Put it succintly, this is a story of a company who once was number one, now fell to no. 3 (2 or 3 depending on who you ask), and is struggling to find its way again.
Or, how Sony's finding new and brilliant ways of screwing up Connect and related devices. The missed opportunites are quite astounding and downright amusing in some sense.
