Splash Damage: Rio Carbon – Developer’s Cut
It’s not everyday that a device gets a developer’s cut of a firmware (DVDs on the other hand…). So, this is a welcomed parting gift from the good folks at now defunct Rio for Carbon Series DAP owners (Carbon/CE2XXX). It seems like I’m about 8 months late in covering this late breaking news (as it were), but better late than never.
New features include:
- On the fly Playlisting (ala iPod)
- Text File viewing (*.txt files)
- Stop button action (pause or stop)
- Sleep Timer
- Faster Bootup and Integration
Download the file here and proceed as usual. Once the upgrade is complete, you’ll need to either format the device or delete the .THCDB directory (it’s hidden, but it’s there) if you’re not willing to re-upload the files currently on the device.
I’d say you’d have nothing to worry about since Rio is defunct, so there’s no warranty to speak of really. Go hacking and don’t cry to me if it blows up in your face.
